Momentum (Satis Shroff)

MOMENTUM (Satis Shroff)
(Subtitle: Paris is France)
Paris, Gargoyle, France, Architecture

Yellow vested men and women
No longer with lowered faces.
Scowling countenances,
Legs that kick down windows and doors,
Arms that life and overturn cars.

They want to be heard
For they have been ignored
By Macron and others
At the Elysee Palace
Too long.
Paris is France.

In the olde Jacobiner days it was the Bastille,
Now it’s the Champs Elysees.
Why is Paris burning?
Hope   it’ll appear in Le Monde and Figaro
Tomorrow.

A movement gathers momentum,
No time for empty speeches,
No elitare nuances.
Yellow vested men and women
Fighting against vested interests,
In Place de la Republic,
Bastille and nation.
Paris is France.

The rift in the French society
Has grown too wide.
Will someone build a bridge
Over these troubled waters of
La Grande nation?
Paris is France.

Oh, please don’t talk about Haute Cuisine,
I have problems making ends meet.
I hear shots with tear-gas.
Paris is France.

Paris the City of Love,
Now a City of Hate.
Oui, it’s the only city in the world
That protects the Freedom to Flirt
In French style;
Where women coquette with men,
Risking molestation, says Catherine Denuve.
Ah, the fire of Prometheus
Glittering in her blue Parisian eyes.
You can’t help loving Paris.
Paris is France.
