People work line bees, Cutting and pruning weeds Using their ancient hoes To plough the terraces The joy that plants have survived Beneath the deadwood. There’s optimism in the air And with it hope, When crocuses rear their heads. Lovely lupins, delphiniums and daffodils, In the meadows of the Himalayas. People are bathing in the tributaries of holy rivers, Chanting vedic hymns. Those who have lost their mothers, Remember them through rites, Followed by a bath in the river Matatirtha. The sound of thundering hoofs in Tudikhel, In the heart of Catmandu. Snorting and foaming horses, And cheering Nepalese. Spectators who watch the great chariots Of Bhairawa and Bhadrakali. HIMALAYAN LOVE STORY (Satis Shroff) Andrea Zimmermann, a young, blonde Swiss lady and Nepalese fiancee Norbu Sherpa wanted to climb the Chomolungma, as Everest is called by the Buddhists in Nepal and Tibet. Suddenly the earth moved. The two love each other since 2011 and are also rather business-minded. They run a trekking-agency in Nepal and Switzerland. This April there were underway to Everest when the earthquake began rumbling. Andrea and Norbu were in the Sagarmatha area, when the earth began to move. They were only three kilometres away from the eipcentre, near Sindhupalchowk and Gorka. What did they do? The ran to a small village in the vicinity. Everyone in the village was in panic and the people, both Nepalese and foreigners ran out of the houses. As the buildings came tumbling down many people were injured and dead. Oh, LANGTANG (Satis Shroff) Langtang Valley can be reached from Kathmandu by traversing along the Trisuli river valley and further to small picturesque Nepalese hamlets such as: Betrawati, Dharapani, Ramche, Thare, Bokejhung, Bhrugu, Munga and finally Syabrubensi, for where the Langtang Valley begins. Most of the trekkers head for the village of Langtang, which lies at an elevation of 3,500m, and another village is Kyanjing (3,850m). These two villages lie in a wide arid valley, and has woodland and meadows: a trekker's paradise.
