Heimatpflegerische Engagement Baden-Württemberg 2017 (Satis Shroff) NEPALESE FESTIVAL IN FREIBURG: Key words: Nepalese in German diaspora, jamara, tika, vedic rituals, Nepalese traditions & customs The Freiburger Nepalese community, mostly MA and PhD students, au-pairs, nurses and others celebrate Dasain in the German diaspora together with ritual ceremonies of tika-talo on the foreheads of the people with a blessing. Nepalese Hindus celebrate this festival with their non-Hindu (in this case German) friends. The place was the Stusibar in Freiburg-West. In Nepal, all government offices, educational institutions an d other offices remain closed during the festival period. The festival falls in September or October due to the lunar calendar, starting from the shukla paksha, bright lunar fortnight, of the month of Ashvin and ending on purnima-- the full moon.
