    Neulich in der Ev.Stift, Freiburg>Satis Shroff, Dozent an der Universitätsklinik Freiburg und nebenbei Maler, freier Autor und Dichter, hatte in diesem Jahr für sein lyrisches Werk den Pablo-Neruda-Preis gewonnen. Er machte die Motive der Fotoausstellung zum Gegenstand seines poetischen Schaffens und trug drei selbst verfasste Gedichte vor. Ein Foto von Dieter Löffler, dem Clown, der in regelmäßigen Abständen das Haus Schloßberg besucht, das Abbild einer Tagesmutter mit einem Kind aus der Kleinkindertagesstätte "Dreikäsehoch" (beide Fotos von Alexandra Heneka) und ein Schnappschuss von halb nackten Männern, die am Strand Karten spielen (Foto von Reinhardt Jacoby), inspirierten ihn zu diesen Reimen. Daneben gab er noch ein Gedicht von Johann Gottfried Herder, ein Volkslied aus dem Schwarzwald und "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" von Elvis Presley zum Besten.

Chomolungma: the Mother Goddess of the Earth (Satis Shroff) The highest peak on earth is Mt. Everest but to the Nepalese living below the Himalayas it has always been Sagarmatha, and to the Sherpas the mountain was always Chomolungma, the Mother Goddess of the Earth. The Sherpas are born at altitudes of 3000m and above, and you can find them around the Solokhumbu area, and they are acclimatized to high altitudes and are recognized for their climbing prowess. In 1953 Tenzing Norgay became the first Sherpa to climb Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) with Edmund Hillary, and since then the experienced Sherpas bear the title Tigers of the Snow. The Sherpas settled in the Khumbu area circa 300 years ago after a long journey from Tibet (China). The Sherpas were traders before they became famous as porters and mountain guides. THE NAKED HILLS (Satis Shroff) A young Nepalese woman Sits in front of her parents’ thatched home In the Middle Hills of Nepal. Her two hands caress her shoulders. It’s cold in the hills of Nepal, Where the hills are naked And its sons have left In search of better pastures, For the hills are barren. Governments and kings Have come and gone, But the poverty has remained. There’s no flour to bake one’s bread.
