THE POT NEVER MELTS I (Satis Shroff) ONCE upon a time in a country sandwiched between two great ponds: the Atlantic and the Pacific, there was a big nation of migrants who called themselves Americans. Since the country was ravishingly beautiful but wild, and without infrastructures, millions of people from Europe decided to overtake the continent and create a new white society. They constructed a melting pot theory in which all Europeans (later other earth dwellers too) were to be put in the pot. The melting pot revolutionized the foreigners who entered the melting pot, which carried the name: the United States of America. The motley foreigners were expected to be easily dissolved. They could also be dissolved into tears because the very idea was against human nature. People from diverse nations were expected to set up an American civilization together. That was the path (The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost, 1916) America had chosen. The Native Americans had no other choic...

TRAVELOGUE by Satis Shroff Review by Renate Mousseux. M.A. ED: Through Nepalese Eyes is a highly interesting, authentic story taking the reader through traditions and customs of 2 different countries. The stories are written through the Eyes of a Nepalese, hence the Title. We learn about the role of women, religious beliefs, political events, ethical and socio-economic situations in Nepal. We see comparisons of Europe and Asia and learn about the vast differences of life. Thi s book is a must read, I recommend it highly. --Renate Mousseux. NORTH SEA POEMS - NORDSEELYRIK (Satis Shroff) Sylt at Dawn (Satis Shroff) You hear the waves As they splash onto the shore. You haven’t opened your eyes, But you discern the cries of sea gulls, As you slowly let the sunlight Into your eyes. Ah, the reassuring rays caress your face, As you proceed to the balcony, Stretch yourself And let out cha-cha-cha, Pa-pa-pa sounds between your teeth, That you’ve learned While singing in your choir. A seagull with a fish in its beak Flutters by. All white and airborne, Twinkling on a blue sky. Out in the horizon, A turquoise blue trawler chugs by.   Habitat for Wild (Satis Shroff) The flora and fauna have a hard time In winter. The white mantle Of snow covers The branches, buds and barks. The owl loves winter As it takes in all Beings that move, With its keen sight. The woodpecker knows Where the larvae and insects Are hiding. It’s Spring, The landscape gardeners Have chopped all the trees. Now the spur is bare, No more can I see The deer th...
